In the AMR eco system, one typically find the following functions, some or all of which may be done by one company. Especially in the old days, it was very expensive and done by one company. However that created inherent bottlenecks. Nowadays AMR is less expensive and the market is a lot bigger, and companies tend more to specialize.
Here follows a breakdown of the emerging Eco system, and an asterisk of functions SDG has fulfilled in the past on occasion, and 2 asterisks for functions often fulfilled and 3 asterisks for core business functions:
*Meter/PrimaryEquipment manufacturer or reseller (& related equipment e.g. CTs and VTs) (*** in the case of the MSS)
Meter/Primary equipment installer (*** in the case of the MSS)
**Communication Equipment & last meter cable manufacturers
Communication Network provider, incl installation and maintenance of network cable and rf/plc networks
*Communication Equipment installer incl. Last meter cable
***AMR software provider
**AMR Training
***AMR Support
**AMR Equipment aggregator. This function is important for hitch-free AMR rollouts.
**AMR server installation/admin
*AMR configuration: equipment
*AMR maintenance: comms
*AMR setting up tariffs
*AMR setting up meter & login accounts
AMR sub metering/Running Bills, customer support, accounting
*Specialist advisor/consultant (e.g. revenue protectiom, M & V, Quality of Supply, Digital Fault/Startup Recording etc)
*Specialist optimizing equipment manufacturer/reseller/installer e.g. Power Factor Correction, Ice Rooms, variable speed drives, low energy lights, heat pumps, solar heaters, noflush urinals, QoS equipment, Digital Fault Recorders etc
