Question:
A question about setting up our water tariffs correctly: We have input a tariff with various consumption bands?
0-6 kL : R3.30 per kL
7-20 kL : R4.62 per kL
21 ? 40 kL : R7.57 per kL
41-60 kL : R10.79 per kL
61+ kL : R14.54 per kL
How do we get the tariff to recognise a changeover from one band to the next, i.e. when the consumption for one apartment goes above 6kL, how does it then pick up that every subsequent kL must be charged at the next highest rate, and so on??
Is this done using tariff line item dependencies? And if so, how exactly must I set this up?

Answer:
No, not with dependencies.

With banding. On the tarrif line item edit screen for Consumption items, you can enable banding, and then you must specify a lower and upper limit.

Please note that the upper limit of the lower item must be equal to the lower limit of the upper item.

For the top item, you'd typically give a very high upper limit, eg 9999999999
