Hi Marinus, we are installing a unit in Namibia next week for a commercial building. A few questions

· Would recommend the A1140 or A1700?
· What dialling prefix, etc do I need for the tel?
· Are there any issues regarding the SIM number that I need to be aware of?
· Will the data costs across international borders be affected in any way?

I would recommend the Elster A1140 if possible, because it is cheaper and you're already used to it. But most of our other clients in Namibia are using the Elster A1700.
The international code for Namibia according to my records is +264.
With the SIM number, the most reliable way to get it is still to SMS "SIMID" to the KOCOS modem (without the quotes); and let the modem tell you what it is electronically. I know with Leo, the last digit of the SIM number is missing from the SIM card itself. Not sure about the other operator.
The data costs will be as they are arranged with the remote Cellular operator. As far as I'm aware, they don't ask extra for international internet.
