Why cant I get through to the meter via the TCP bridge.  It just try to open communicatoin to meter and then it stops. The gateway is online, signal is good and I get feedback from the meter via tools-communication monitor.

Problem 1:
The TCP Bridge tends to be a bit flimsy.
We send keep alive packets over the connection to keep the connection alive.
We can however not do this while it is open in the TCP bridge.

esp with cell phone lines like GPRS the connection then drops within 30 seconds and is kept artificially alive by a network that is not under our control.
So to prevent this, when I use the TCP Bridge I set up everything on my side and just before I click 'read meter' in the OEM software I open the TCP Bridge, do the read and then immediately close the TCP Bridge again.
This usually keeps the bridge from falling over.
If the bridge does fall over, it usually takes 5 minutes before things work again.

Problem 2:
The TCP Bridge has a 7E1 option.
When we open the bridge, we usually open in 8N1 mode and then the OEM software fakes 7E1 over 8N1, but for some oem software & meter & modem combinations, you specifically have to open in 7E1 mode to make it work.
