PLEASE NOTE that PNPSCADA does support interfacing directly to your Echelon NES Server through web services (a SOAP interface) that does not need you to run any program on the NES server itself. However, if you do not have a NES Server and you're situated in South Africa, you could work through UAS, as per the rest of this post:

SDG Technologies has negotiated a special NES (Echelon) deal for Plug and Play Scada Resellers who wants to read Echelon meters through PNPSCADA, with South African Echelon service provider UAS. This is necessary because most Resellers does not have access to their own NES server.?

UAS offers a service whereby they do NES (Echelon) hosting on behalf of various other companies.

The terms are as follows, in a nutshell:

1. Normal PNPSCADA license fees to SDG Technologies apply.
2. Additional fee of R13.25 (excl. VAT) per meter per month payable to SDG Technologies. This INCLUDES all SIM card and communication costs (you will receive a SIM card from UAS - on their APN), and any further licensing fees.
3. Free Jump Start training available from UAS. This is typically for your technicians, to teach them how to install or manage the Meters and Data Concentrators.
4. Special discounts for the buying of equipment, extended exclusively to PNPSCADA Resellers (Call Thea and ask about these, subject to change, and on the conditions that no markup is applied to the UAS price).
