Setting up a virtual server so that we can install PNPSCADA
Install the latest OpenSUSE Leap
https://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.0/iso/openSUSE-Leap-15.0-NET-x86_64.iso
In the installation:
*You can leave most things default, except:
*when partitioning:
-you will be asked to 'Prefer BtrFS', do NOT tick that, rather format all drives to ext4.
-We highly recommend having at least one physical dedicated SSD (250GB or more) connected to the Virtual Server.
When partitioning, make sure the Linux root mount point (also referred to as /) points to the SSD.
RAID0 SSD's is also recommended.
-If you do have one or more SSDs and a normal HD, the normal one will then be used for local backups, and can be mounted under /root/drive2/
-We normally do not set a swap partition
*You will need to give us the root password for your OpenSUSE installation, as we will install PNPSCADA under root
*on the screen before the actual install starts, you will be given a summary of everything that needs to be done for the install.
One of the last things in that list is to enable/disable ssh. Make sure this is set to enabled
*you can do a Server install
We will install all the necessary software for PNPSCADA to operate, which will include programs like postgresql, jdk, latex, dosemu etc
So you only need to give us:
*IP
*root password
