Good question. We usually prefer OpenSUSE or SUSE. However, we do run on Debian and Ubuntu at some sites.
The most important thing is that you must have PostgreSQL installed.
Note that some features are not supported if you do this, e.g. CSD, and Premier meters. (and unless you install a new version of latex, there are some reports also not supported, but very few at this stage)
Basically give us remote admin access, and for a fee will install PNPSCADA for you on the server.
