Struggling to get Enermax Plus working on an APN

The following has been converted and obfuscated from an email, and translated with Google translate
I now have two meters reprogrammed so that they GPRS listening with their IP addresses. But I still do not get them up.

I suspect that I should enter the APN server name, username and password, but I do not know what it should be?
Or if the settings do not seem right, please help me out so that I can get the two meters finally to work.

Yes,
You definately need the APN name. Is it a truteq APN? Probably TRUTEQ?
For username and password you can use 'user' en 'pass', it is unimportant for the network, but some modems need SOMETHING at least, or they don't work.

The IP adres you'll typically NOT put in. This is something that would be given to you automatically by the network.. It should have come with your SIM card? Maybe a sticker with an IP address on it?

Thanks, my technician is at the meters now.
He did the changes.
The IP addresse we got from Truteq. Won't they be fixed IP’s on their APN?

Yes, they are 'fixed IPs', but the IP is fixed per SIM card, not per your settings in the modem/meter.
In other words, from the perspective of the modem/meter, it is an automatically assigned IP.
Imagine you give the same IP for 2 different modems/meters, for example, or you give the wrong IP that doesn't belong with that SIM....

The IP is determined within the network, not in the modem/meter

Hi,

The meter doesn't want to accept the programming if I don't put in the IP.
I put in the IP as it was given to me for that SIM by truteq. So it should be right.

So I now have everything in and it is supposed to be right but the comms keep on saying it could not connect.

I've set up the two enermax plus meters on pnpscada over here:

I don't know what else to still change futher.

I think the best to do in this case is to change your support strategy a little bit.
There are too many issues, namely the Enermax+ modem setup, the IP tunnels and the APN. Let's first sort out the Enermax+ modem and APN, and when we know that works, then we add PNPSCADA and the IP-tunnels.
The fact of the matter is, that we have not previously played with the modem setup screens of the Enermax+ meter. Therefore we cannot really support it? The advice we could give, up until now, has been very generic. What you need now, is lot more specific help.
Therefore, you will have to go to the people that sells the meter/modem/meter-software. I presume that is Strike.
But if you go to them, they are going to tell you that they didn't write PNPSCADA, and can therefore not support it, etc., pretty much what I must tell you about their meter programming software.... never mind the IP tunnels from Truteq. So now you actually have 3 different vendors, and you don't know where the problem is!
Therefore, what you must do, is to make this 2 or 3 different issues, each of which is vendor specific. Then they HAVE TO help you. This you can accomplish as follows:

  1. Get 2 SIM cards on the APN, put them in 2 different laptops, with the right APN settin, and ping each other. If you can ping each other, switch off the one laptop, and check that the ping from the other one stops working. If that is the case, then your SIMs and the APN is working between the two laptops.
  2. Now put the one SIM in the meter's modem, configure it as best you can, and switch it on (or reboot the meter/modem). Try to ping it again from one of the laptops also on the APN.
  3. If it doesn't ping, phone Strike and ask why not, and they must help you to get it working.
If you can do the above, you WILL get it working.

And then it should also work on PNPSCADA (if the IP Tunnels works!)

Good luck! :-)
