Answer:
Gaps is not always a problem, because the meter could have been off, for example a power failure could have occurred. For these cases, if the meter has been programmed to log power failure events, you should see corresponding events under Meter Events.
If the meter passes its Audit (sum of Profile vs difference in Totals); it is probably not a problem.
However, it can happen, if someone sets the 'Last Read Up to Date & Time' forward (in the Edit->Meter Details screen); that a gap occurs, because the server will only attempt to read profile from that date moving forward, so it will skip the period from the old date to the set date.
To solve the GAP in that case, set the 'Last Read Up to Date & Time' back to a time before the Gap, and next time the profile is read in, it will fill the gap.
It can sometimes happen, that the meter's memory doesn't contain the necessary profile to fill the gap. However, when the totals are read in the beginning and end of the month, the difference is more than the sum of the profile that was read. In this case, you can interpolate the missing profile into the gaps, via the 'Edit->Meter Totals' screen: by selecting the appropriate 'interpolate' link. This sometimes also happens automatically, since Plug and Play Scada will attempt to keep its internal profile and totlas data internally consistent, logging events when this is not possible.
