Communication Logs - View - pnpscada\
\
[TABLE=\"width: 100%\"]\\Over here you can see the Communication Logs of your Communication Device. This includes all kinds of Communication Devices: Etherpads - Passive and Active - as well as Modems - APN, CSD, Intelligent GPRS Client, and Simple GPRS Client modems.\
\
\
You will be able to see the method that was used to communicate in each particular instance (which could be GPRS or CSD for some modems), as well as when the communication started, and when it ended. You will also see the duration, and the total bytes sent and received.\
\
\
In the case of GPRS, the total bytes sent and received will not necessarily tie up with the cell phone bill, since TCP/IP packets generally are of a minumum size, and includes house-keeping data - for example packet lengths and destination addresses. As far as the cell phone company is concerned, they normally charge the full size of all packets. Since meter communication packets are generally very small, the correlation between actual bytes sent and received by the server and charged for by the cell phone network generally leaves a lot to be desired.\
\
Cell phone networks generally also charges a small fee (e.g. 1c) for each time the modem logs in to GPRS on the cell phone network.\
\
In the case of most devices, each row will correspond to a call or a TCP/IP connection. In the case of Intelligent Active GPRS Modems, that will not necessarily be the case: for those modems, the TCP/IP connection is kept alive with periodic transactions, each of which will be on a seperate line.\
\
\
In the case of CSD calls, you'll be able to see which serial port on the server was used for the call (part of the method field will be a serial port name - on the Plug and Play Scada box that will be /dev/ttySNX0 for COM1 and /dev/ttySNX1 for COM2. Serial ports mapped to external Moxa devices will be in the format: /dev/ttyr01).\
\
For a CSD call, if the call ended because it was dropped by the other side, it will say call dropped on the same line on the right hand side.\
