Line Items - Tariff - pnpscada\
\
[TABLE=\"width: 100%\"]\\This is where you can set up the Algorithm to use to calculate the line item on a Bill. You do not specify rates or percentages here, but only the algorithm. Rates are set up under the Rates menu item.Next to Description, enter the description of the line item as it must display on the bill.\
Next to Utility, enter Electricity or Water or the utility you want to bill. This must be the same for your meter and for all your bill items on this tariff.Under Tariff Type, select the algorithm you want to use for this line item. Depending on what you select here, other items will become vizible, where you can set up the parameters for the respective algorithms.\
At the bottom of the screen, you can set up the Graph Color to use for this tariff line item on graphical reports, e.g. the Profile Graph. This facilitates multi-color Time of Use Profile Graphs, where you can see at-a-glance in which period a particular half hour falls.\
You can change the color by clicking on the Red, Green or Blue squares on the right, or by entering a percentage in the left with your keyboard. As you change these values, the color displayed in the bottom left corner will change to show you what the color you selected looks like.Click Change at the bottom of the screen to commit your changes.\
Tariff Types:\
Please note that with some algorithms you can specify the Bill and Graph units to use on the Bill and on the Graph displays respectively.\
At the time of writing, the algorithms you can use are:\
Fixed charge:\
This is for instance the connection fee, or whatever is fixed on your customer's bill. The 'Per Period' value is typically 'month', but if your connection is charged per day, you can change the 'Per Period' value to 'day'.\
Consumption (Diff between Meter Totals):\
This is the typical consumption charge on electricity (per kWh) or water (per kl), where the consumption are worked out as a difference between this month and last month's meter readings (where 'meter reading' in this case refers specifically to the Meter Total)\
For electricity meters, you can look at 6 different totals, being import, export and 4 quadrants of reactive energy: Select the registers to look at with the checkboxes. \
For other Utilities, only the 'Active Energy, Import/Forward (P1)' checkbox must be ticked.\
If the rate is different for different figures - e.g. if the first 6 kWh is free - tick the 'Enable Banding on Consumption' box. If this is ticked, you also need to specify the Band Lower Limit (e.g. 0) and the Band Upper Limit (e.g. 6).\
Maximum Demand (non TOU):\
This is typically only used for Electricity. Typically (Eskom MD), only the P1 and Q1 checkboxes will be ticked, but for some Billing Authorities (CoCT), customers are given credit for leading reactive energy. In this case, also tick the Q4 checkbox.\
MD is shown on the Profile Graph as a line.\
When more than one meter is added to a meter account, the MD is correctly calculated per period (in other words: vectorially, and per half hour), to get the Meter Account's MD.\
You may also look at RMS Demand. This is a MD supported on some meters that takes the energy of harmonics into account. This can potentially be slightly more than the commonly used MD. CoCT has such a tariff. To use it, uncheck all the other meter register checkboxes, and only select this checkbox.\
Restricted Maximum Demand is also supported (as per some older Ethekwini tariffs). Check the checkbox next to 'Enable Restricted Maximum Demand' to enable Restricted Maximum Demand. \
Co-incident Maximum Demand (diversity) is also supported: that is when two or more sub-metered tenants pay MD on their Incomer Account's MD, instead of on their own.\
It is also possible to charge a customer based on some historic minimum MD, for instance a 12 month roll-over MD tariff. To enable that, check the 'Enable Automatic Historical Maximum Demand Penalty' checkbox.\
Notified Maximum Demand, as a non-fixed tariff phenomena, automatically applies to the MD tariff if set up on the Meter Account Edit screen. Notified Maximum Demand as a fixed tariff, as implemented in Ethekwini in 2010, has a seperate algorithm type.\
Consumption (Sum of Meter Profile,e.g. TOU):\
This is similar to the Non-TOU Consumption algorithm, but instead of working from the difference in the totals, this algorithm works from the sum of the Load Profile. That enables you to apply any TOU calendar that you want, or indeed, compare multiple calendars to each other on the same meter data.\
Next to 'Time of Use', specify the Rate Period and Season you want to apply for this tariff line item, or select 'add new calendar..' if you haven't configured it yet.\
Maximum Demand (TOU):\
This is similar to the Non-TOU MD algorithm, but it only applies to the specific calender rate period as selected next to 'Time of Use'.\
Discount/Surcharge:\
This tariff has no extra fields. The percentage number itself is set up under the Rates menu item.\
Ekurhuleni Tariff D Surcharge:\
This tariff is very specific to Ekurhuleni Tariff D customers.\
Ekurhuleni Rebate:\
This tariff is very specific to Ekurhuleni customers, and looks at the customer's Load Factor.\
Reactive Charge:\
This is a consumptive tariff, and charges for all reactive energy in excess of a power factor of 0.96. It looks at the total kWh vs total kvarh for the entire billing period.\
Reactive Charge (TOU):\
This is a consumptive tariff, and charges for all reactive energy in excess of a power factor of 0.96. It looks at every profile period (e.g. half an hour) seperately.\
Network Access:\
As per Eskom tariffs. This works from the NMD as set up on the Meter Account Edit screen.\
Notified Maximum Demand:\
As per Ethewkini tariffs. This is essentially a straight fixed charge per kVA for the actual NMD amount configured on the Meter Account Edit screen.\
